Those self-sacrificing, charitable first Christians being told that one day other followers claiming Christ as their savior would slaughter, starve, and torture innocent people? It would have been one of their greatest nightmares! Sad how history's wheel turns.

We have had some heated discussions in this forum about who is and isn't a "real" Christian. I tend to use the duck principle. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, flies like a duck, swims like a duck and hangs out with ducks, it's probably a duck. The Bible tells us the same thing.
Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 23:3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not. Matthew 23:5 But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,
John 8:39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.
John 10:37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. John 10:38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.
What do you think the original twelve would think of the current group of politicians railing against the concept of "spreading the wealth" as somehow un-American?
Acts 4:32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.
